The wait is almost over friends. Wednesday comes the highly anticipated firmware update 2.40 for the PS3. Included in this update is of course the ability to access your XMB while in game, simply press the PSbutton to bring it up. Also included is the Trophy system, similar to the Xbox 360’s achievements. Here is a list of supported games as of now.
The trophy system WILL NOT apply to old save games, you will have to replay them if you want the trophy’s. There is good reasoning for this, all one would have to do is download a save game and get all the trophy’s with out any work. Expect a full right up and review of the biggest firmware update for the PS3 yet, when it becomes available.

View, my friends, and be pleased! Thanks to the good folks over at GamePro.com for getting their hands on these pics.
Yes, you read that right, a brand new Call of Duty game. No, it’s not Call of Duty 5. And, no, it’s not being developed by Infinity Ward, but rather Treyarch, the guys behind Call of Duty 3. And yes, it’s being built using the Call of Duty 4 engine. A big topic for fans of the CoD series is that this game is being set back in World War II. So far, early impresions of the game (at least, the single player campaign) are that the game is visually stunning, though not as much as CoD 4, and it seems to be pretty brutal. Not much info on the multiplayer front, but Treyarch would do well to realize that they are stepping up to an enormous bar with both a single and multiplayer experience coming off of the heels of CoD 4. Look for more information here at NoNameGaming as it becomes available.
Mario Kart has finally hit the Wii with the aptly titled Mario Kart Wii. This installment boasts all new features, but how does it stand to its predecessors?
Have any PS3 owners downloaded the version 2.36 update yet? Good. Then you probably already know that it has fixed some stability issues with certain games. What you may not know yet is that the folks who take care of the PlayStation Network are hard at work on version 2.40, which will allow in-game access to the Cross Media Bar, which is a very nice addition. It would be beneficial, however, to include an easier way to access your friends list in game. Hopefully that will come at a later date. No clue yet on when version 2.40 will be available, other than “soon”. NoNameGaming will bring you more details as they become available.
Coming tomorrow packed with the PSN store update there is going to be an Interactive story teller for the entire MG series. No need to fear it even has spoiler protection!! MGS4 sections are blacked out until you beat the game. How bad ass is this?!?! I know our very own Jetticus will get a lot of use out of it!!
